All 12 Sides Ranked by Calories

All 12 Sides Ranked by Calories

Every side costs $2.99 with one exception, which means price carries no information at all. The only variable left is calories, and those run from 100 to 740.

Since most entrées come with two sides, this is the highest-leverage decision on the plate and the one people think about least.

The ranking, lightest first

Green beans 100. Applesauce 110. Sautéed mushrooms 120. Sautéed onions 150. Buttered corn 190. Fresh vegetables 190. Texas Red Chili cup 230. Mashed potatoes 260. Sweet potato 350. Seasoned rice 360. Steak fries 360. Baked potato 380.

Then loaded: loaded mashed potatoes 410, loaded steak fries 510, loaded baked potato 530, loaded sweet potato 740.

From lightest to heaviest is a 640-calorie spread at an identical price.

The loaded upcharge

Loading a side costs $1.29 and is available on baked potato, mashed potatoes, steak fries and sweet potato. On three of those it adds 150 calories.

On the sweet potato it adds 390, taking it from 350 to 740. That is by far the largest loaded jump on the menu and the one worth knowing before ordering it out of habit.

A premium side upgrade is 99c more, separately from the loaded charge.

Choosing well

Green beans at 100 calories paired with a 6oz sirloin produce one of the lowest-calorie complete plates the menu allows. Applesauce at 110 is the one side that genuinely refreshes against a rich steak.

Watch for duplication. Seasoned rice is already the base of the Steak Kabob, Filet Medallions and the Grilled Shrimp Dinner, so ordering it alongside one of those doubles up without adding variety.

Texas Red Chili at $3.99 is the one side that breaks the flat price, and at 230 calories for a cup it is closer to a small starter than a side.

  • Lightest — green beans, 100 cal
  • Heaviest — loaded sweet potato, 740 cal
  • Biggest loaded jump — sweet potato, +390 cal
  • Only side not $2.99 — Texas Red Chili at $3.99
  • Most duplicated — seasoned rice, already under three entrées
